15 Guns Entered Match Won by Loren DeShon
2nd Overall - Hal Hansen
3rd Overall - Paul Ries
Good evening Ladies & Gentlemen, and welcome back to another HOT Summer evening at Gig Harbor Sportsmans Club. Our plate match tonight was blessed by clear Blue skies, and temperatures in the middle to upper 80s. This reporter remembers last winter saying that "I won't be happy until I see mirage floating off of the plates." It is currently just about to that point, and indeed, it is Hot Enough!!
15 Guns turned out for tonight's match, and the shooting was just about as HOT!! as the August Temperatures. Many thanks to Mathew Seagraves & Dylan Hasselhuhn for setting up the stage. Thanks to Loren DeShon for running the line tonight, with help from Paul Ries.
Thanks to Mike Blondin for Directing the Match tonight and running the scoreboard. Thanks to our Token Lady, Helen TodHunter for playing recording Secretary so this reporter could tend to the shooting end of the game. With all this excellent help and direction, we got in 5 Rounds of preliminaries and a Sudden Death Finale. The match moved so smoothly we were done and packed up by shortly after 8pm.
The match started off with 15 Guns entered, and by the end of the Sudden Death Finale,
we were down to just 3; Loren DeShon, Hal Hansen & Paul Ries. Loren had a lot of numbers on the board, while Paul & Hal were simply trying to safeguard what few they had.
The finale started with a duel between Loren & Hal with Loren winning this one. Loren then put Kong on the trailer setting the stage for a duel between Hal & Paul. Hal took this one, and then drew Paul again, with the same result. Paul then drew a duel with Loren, beating him to the wire for one of Loren's few losses tonight. Thanks a lot, Paul, for getting Loren all riled up, because Loren then pulled out consequtive wins over both Hal & Paul, back to back. This put Hal up to the line against Loren again, with a much more positive outcome for Hal. In this extremely close duel, Hal's .40SW bullet pushed the popper over before Loren's 9mm bullet could do the job, by sheer Power Factor. It was that close.
Loren then drew another duel with Paul, winning it and putting Paul Ries on the trailer with a 3rd Place Finish firmly tucked away. Not bad Paul. At this point, Loren apparently heard his wife calling him to dinner, because in two back to back duels, Loren put Hal on the trailer, and walked away with the Match Win. Hal took 2nd Overall.
So that's the story from Gig Harbor Sportsmans Club tonight. You Plate Shooters Listen Up Now!! In Two Weeks, August 30, 2010, We will have a makeup match right here to make up for the match we missed with the last Holiday. So BE HERE August 30, 2010 at
6PM and we'll enjoy another match in August.
Until then, practice a lot, keep your gear in good shape, and remember your fundamentals.
Safety 1st & Last - Then Accuracy - and only after those priorities are satisfied do you worry about Speed!! It was a beautiful hot night tonight, and summer isn't anywhere near over yet.
We'll enjoy it right here in 2 weeks and the week after as well. Until then always remember,
"SPEED IS FINE, BUT ACCURACY IS FINAL!!!!"
Hal
