Welcome back to Gig Harbor Sportsmans Club on this HOT!! August Summer afternoon. The sky was a clear blue, and the temperature in the range building was 88degrees. 8 brave souls decided the weather was perfect!! for a clays match, and enjoyed hammering page 2 of The Great Equalizer Series. Thanks to our Arrays Impressario, Chuck Treat for bringing us the stage. Thanks also to Doug Mclean for taking Chuck Nicodemus' place today as Match Director, as well doing his usual excellent
job of scorekeeping and calling the action throughout the match. We've seen it before, but let's do a quick review of Page 2
and shoot the match vicariously.
Round 1
We start off looking at the top row of 4 orange micros all in a row. The bottom row had the same arrangement of Green Standards. If you are entered in the Open Class your targets are the orange micros. If you are trying your luck in the Limited Class, it's the Green Standards. In either case, IF, and only IF you break all your primaries, you then engage the black micro in the middle.
Round 2
In this array, we find one of the Green Standards has moved up to the top row, to be replaced on the bottom row by an orange micro. If you have broken all of your primaries, engage the black micro in the middle. Then it is on to Round 3.
Round 3
Now both the middle Green Standards are on the top row, and two are on the bottom row. Two orange micros have migrated to the bottom row and strategy has become a factor in the match; finding the fastest way to the black micro in the middle.
Round 4
The top row now finds orange micros alternating with Green Standards. The same can be said for the bottom row, but in equal and opposite order. Skipping along from target to target and from row to row, break your primaries and head for the black micro in the middle. And now, it's Round 5.
Round 5
X Marks The Spot!! From the top left to the bottom right we have 4 Green Standards. From the bottom left to the top right we
have 4 orange micros. IF you have broken your primaries, you then head to the middle of the screen in search of the black micro in the middle. Let's now see who did what in today's match.
The Open Class was won by Jay Schoonmaker with a score of 45. 2nd Open was taken by Ken Bagley Sr. with a score of 42.
The Limited Class was won by our Arrays Impressario, Chuck Treat, who shot a score of 43. We had a tie for 2nd Limited between Hal Hansen and Craig Tabor. Both Hal & Craig shot scores of 36. We haven't seen Craig Tabor for a long time. I guess he had to come and share in Hal's mediocrity today. Coming in 3rd in the Limited Class was Mark (OJ) Kimura with a score of 34.
Next Sunday have another Clays Match, right here at Gig Harbor Sportsmans Club. Remember the GHSC Plate Match Monday August 16, 2010 at 6PM. Practice proper technique, practice firearms safety, and when you have those skills well and truly in hand, then focus on Speed!! We'll see you all at the range, and while preparing for the matches always remember
"YOU CANNOT MISS FAST ENOUGH TO WIN!!!!"
Hal
