Good afternoon sports fans, and welcome back to Gig Harbor Sportsman's Club, and our weekly Sunday afternoon Clays Match. It's a cool 52degrees today, with scattered clouds and no rain, another perfect day for a Clays Match. Our match is brought to you today by our Match Director, Chuck Nicodemus. Doug McLean was busy cooking the books and driving the microphone, and our Arrays Impressario, Chuck Treat, away in Hawaii, I might add, brought us Page 2 of The Great Equalizer Series. We've seen this array before, so I would imagine everyone will ace it, but let's see what the shooters saw today before it's too late.
Round 1
2 straight lines of clays, 4 orange micros on top, and 4 Green standards below. If one is shooting any .22 caliber handgun, or an Open Class handgun of any type, that competitor shoots at the orange micros. If
one is shooting a Limited Class handgun, one shoots at the Green Standards. In either case, when one successfully breaks all 4 of their respective clays, one then engages the black micro in the middle.
Round 2
The top row starts out with an orange micro, followed by a Green Standard, followed again by 2 orange micros. On the bottom row, the first clay is a Green Standard, followed by an orange micro, followed by 2
more Green Standards. Find your proper targets, break them and then engage the black micro in the middle.
Round 3
A little variety starting now. The first clay on the top row is an orange micro, followed by 2 Green Standards, and ending with another orange micro. The bottom row starts out with a Green Standard,
followed by 2 orange micros, followed by another Green Standard. Engage and break all those, then it's on to the black micro in the middle.
Round 4
Now the top row alternates between orange micros and Green Standards, starting with the orange micro. The bottom row alternates between Green Standards and orange micros, beginning with a Green
Standard. Engage and break your respective targets and then it's on to the black micro in the middle.
Round 5
X marks the spot. From left to right descending, 4 Green Standards cross a line of orange micros descending from right to left. Both orange and Green lines of clays bracket the black micro in the middle.
So how did everyone do??
In our Ladies Class, Marla Crouch was victorious with a score of 25 + 1, the result of a shootoff with 2nd Place Lady, Carrie Morton. In 3rd place was Giti Anable. Apologies Giti, I didn't get your score.
In our Open Class, this reporter, Hal Hansen won it with a score of 48, followed by Tim Kopp in 2nd place with a score of 43. In 3rd place in the Open Class, Ken Bagley SR.
finished with a score of 42.
In our Limited Class, David Lee showed the way with a score of 43. In 2nd Limited, Jay Schoonmaker shot a 41, and in 3rd place in our Limited Class Tim Anable shot a score of 38.
Looks like that's about it for this week. Don't forget our next GHSC Plate Match will be held May 3rd at 6:00pm. Starting last Monday, on the 1st & 3rd Mondays of each month, except for Mondays falling on National Holidays, we'll be right here at 6:00pm and shoot plates. Next Sunday at 4PM, we'll be right here for another great Clays Match, and we expect to see you all here too. Until then always remember when you are shooting and practicing:
"SHOOT FAST!! SHOOT ACCURATELY!! BUT MOST OF ALL, SHOOT SAFELY!!"
Hal
