Plate Shooters at Gig Harbor Sportsman's Club, one and all!!;
Good evening folks, Hal Hansen here, back at the reporters desk. It's great to be back, and we were greeted by a perfect, clear, warm evening for a plate match. Before I go on, I want to thank everyone for carrying on the match in my absence, and especially to Rob Potter for taking over my Match Director duties. An equally special thank you to OJ and Mathew & Wolfgang Seagraves for taking care of set up each week, and thanks to everyone who came out for all the help they put forth to make the match continuing fun each week.
Congratulations to Rob Potter for winning a seat on the Board of Directors of Gig Harbor Sportsman's Club, and for taking the club competition chair for the next term. Rob will maintain the Match Director status he has so richly fulfilled in my absence, and with the help of Reba, OJ and everyone at the matches, I expect to see good things grow from Rob's leadership. Good on ya, Rob.
Speaking of good things happening, Rob and Reba sure had their Nighthawks circling and pouncing tonight. Rob and Reba made the GHSC plate match their family business, and with OJ taking the Young Bucks & Does honors, the field was well rounded and very competitive indeed. Let's join the action in the midst of the "Sudden Death Finale", and see how the duels played out.
We join the action as OJ and James Austin duel, with OJ putting paid to James' night. Exit James. OJ then takes on George, but George wins this one. Mark Wuestoff and Rob duel next, with Rob winning, exit Mark. Reba takes a fast duel from Kevin, exit Kevin. Rob then duels with OJ, and knock'em all down first. This reporter duels with Rob, with Hal winning. Rob and George duel, with George winning, but 2 losses in a row is all Rob can take, and he picks this reporter on whom to regain his winning ways. Exit Hal. sigh.....
Rob and George then duel, with Rob winning. Exit George, our Super Senior Class winner. Reba and OJ duel, with OJ winning. Exit Reba, our Senior Class Winner tonight. Folks, we're getting down to it. Rob and OJ duel, with OJ winning a close one, and OJ backs it up in another duel with Rob, winning this one as well.
At this point in the competition we have Rob & OJ still standing. Rob has 2 numbers, to OJs 1. So, for all the marbles, Rob and OJ face off on the firing line. Shooters, load and make ready!! Shooters ready? Stand by!! The horn sounds, the guns hose down the plates, and the sound reverberates through the range. Folks, WE HAVE A WINNER!!
Rob Potter and his predatory Nighthawk have emerged victorious. OJ finishes the evening as the Young Bucks & Does Class winner, and Rob Potter adds another plate match notch on his Nighthawk.
OK Folks, we'll see you all next week and we'll see if Rob & Reba can continue to make our plate match a family business, even in the face of all this competition. It's still summer for a while yet, and the weather is warm, and the shooting is HOT!!
Come on out and enjoy both the competition and the weather, under the lights where nature intended. Come on out Monday evening at 5pm for a couple of hours of practice and we'll see you right here Tuesday evenings, with guns blazing. See ya then.
Hal
